Back in the early 50s, Red Wing developed the Men's Traction Tred 6-inch Boot. Which took its inspiration from 1930s-era tall work boots and hunting boots. The Traction Tred design incorporated a cushion crepe wedge sole and a moc toe. And was true innovation for its day. Almost 50,000 pairs were sold in 1954 alone. And the Traction Tred 6” remains one of the best-selling styles in the Red Wing catalog.

Comfort, Protection, and Support

The folks at Red Wing know that if you’re working on high iron, or in other industrial settings. You need a boot that will deliver comfort as well as protection and support. The crepe sole of the Red Wing Traction Tred 6” is designed to cushion your feet from impact. And its wedge heel reduces the chance of tripping in tricky terrain. Its shallow lug sole provides traction. While reducing the amount of mud, stones, and dirt the boots might pick up. This less-aggressive lug pattern also means a boot that’s more flexible and comfortable for extended wear.

If you’re looking for a hard-working boot that works as hard as you do. While offering fantastic comfort, stability, and safety, this is the boot you’ve been looking.

Safety Features of The Men's Traction Tred 6-inch Boot

The Traction Tred 6” is definitely designed with safety in mind. It’s rated “Best” in slip resistance, making it a great choice for service industry positions, and its non-marking light-colored crepe sole makes it a great boot for roofers. It’s also top-rated for oil and gas resistance and holds up well under exposure to chemicals. Its tough uppers are abrasion-resistant, and it’s also rated “Best” for exposure to high temperatures.

The comfort of The Men's Traction Tred 6-inch Boot

When it comes to keeping your feet comfortable, the Traction Tred 6” is really hard to beat. Many people find that the crepe sole and wedge-heel design is a great way to pamper your feet and almost feels like wearing a pair of sneakers or cross-trainers. Crepe soles are known for being flexible while offering great support and stability for the arch and forefoot.

Shock Absorbent of The Men's Traction Tred 6-inch Boot

Inside, there’s a Texon® insole that’s light and resilient, but porous enough to let the foot breathe and soft enough to quickly form itself to match the contours of your foot. Like most Red Wing boots, the Traction Tred 6” uses a triple layer insole, with a Texon footbed, a cushioned midsole to absorb impact, and an insole nearest to the sole itself. This insole system provides a level of shock absorption and comfort that’s hard to match in any other work boots.

Easy Resole

The moccasin toe design is roomy with a generous-sized toe box, and the 6” upper provides excellent ankle support. Unlike many other crepe-soled work boots, this model from Red Wing features Goodyear welt construction, meaning it can be re-soled when the soles wear down.

Pros

  • Oil-Tanned leather

About Red Wing

When you get a pair of Red Wing boots, you’re getting boots that are synonymous with top quality, and that’s been true for over 100 years. The company got its start in Red Wing, Minnesota way back in 1905, and soon developed a reputation for tough, well-made boots that work as hard as the people wearing them. Red Wing was the preferred vendor for combat boots in both the First World War and Second World War and has gone on to make a huge range of styles that include logger boots, lighter athletic-style work shoes, chukkas, service oxfords and more.

Specialized Work Boots

They also make steel toed work boots and boots for specialized work environments, with features like electrical resistance (for linemen or electricians), boots with metatarsal guards for the mining industry, chemical-safe boots, non-slip boots, and many more. Along with their home-base plant in Minnesota, Red Wing also operates a plant in Potosi, Missouri, making boots from both domestic and imported materials.
